Award winning Tasmanian start-up boosting events around the globe
Connecting live with a target audience from an event can be rewarding for brands and for businesses, creating engagement with a global audience as well as high quality content that can be used in the future.
PopUp WiFi, an award winning Tasmanian start-up, has been helping Australian businesses meet their live streaming goals for three years with its premium, portable WiFi for events. PopUp WiFi has covered events like Dark Mofo, Falls Festival, the AFL Grand Final and Portsea Polo. According to the company, they’ve helped almost a million people connect to WiFi and promote their messages all over the globe, from São Paulo to San Francisco; from hackathons and trade shows to blockbuster conferences and festivals.
At the 2017 Tasmanian iAwards PopUp WiFi scooped three awards: Startup of the Year, Infrastructure & Platforms Innovation of the Year and the Business Service Markets winner. The iAwards recognise and reward the technology innovations that have the potential to, or are already having, a positive impact on the community – at home, in the office and on a global scale.
Now the company has announced the establishment of its first international base in Santa Monica, with capacity to offer premium portable WiFi to events across the entire West Coast of the USA. Co-founder and “network engineering guru”, Linden Kurth, has relocated to the US to head up the new base. Clients have been keen to take them up on WiFi for live polling, silent auctions, VIP zones and conference WiFi for delegates and presenters.
The team has been working with investor Lawrence Howson from XVT Solutions to accelerate growth and develop innovative software to make event WiFi even easier for event managers.
There are three temporary wifi options to choose from, depending on the size of your requirements, all with unlimited connections. PopUp Go works with up to 20 simultaneous users within a 20m radius; PopUp Express for up to 200 simultaneous users in a 30m radius; and PopUp Tower for up to 600 simultaneous users in a 50m radius. Features include phone support, crowd counting, and a battery powered option. The system is also weather proof.
