The innovative Canberra-based cyber security company had a successful night, also taking home the Medium & Making Waves Award.
Cyber security innovator Penten has been named 2018 ACT business of the Year at the 2018 Telstra Business Awards at the State Dinner held at the National Gallery of Australia, also taking out the award in the Medium & Making Waves category earlier in the night.
Based in Canberra, Penten says its vision is to solve some the hardest cyber security problems faced by Australia and its allies, focusing on two core areas: enabling government users to access classified information on mobile devices and tricking and trapping attackers with realistic decoys using machine learning.
Established only 3 years ago, Penten has since grown from a team of 4 to 45, evolving into one of Australia's emerging cyber security innovators. The company has been helped by AustCyber, Australia's Cyber Security Growth Network, part of the Australian Government’s Industry Growth Centres Initiative.
Penten CEO, Matthew Wilson said "The last year has been our hardest and most transformative, as we doubled in size and moved from a solely R&D focus to begin helping our customers implement our products."
"The Penten team are very excited and humbled at being recognised at the Telstra Business Awards and have been grateful for the assistance given by the Telstra team," he said.
Telstra said the Judges were impressed with Penten‘s ground-breaking solutions in this area of national importance, particularly in the context of ever-changing cybersecurity threats.
The Penten team have created world-leading technologies that protect Australia's most classified information from its most sophisticated cyber adversaries. Penten’s AltoCrypt family of secure mobility solutions are enabling mobile secure access to classified information for government, Penten’s deception.ai business unit employs machine learning to create realistic decoys to detect and track sophisticated cyber adversaries.
