Established in 2013, DoorDash is America's largest on-demand food platform with 310,000 restaurant partners in more than 4,000 global cities.
Leading US on-demand food door-to-door delivery platform, DoorDash, has announced its arrival in Sydney, with the company’s largest launch to date.
Founded in 2013, DoorDash empowers merchants to grow their businesses by offering on-demand delivery, data-driven insights, and better in-store efficiency, providing delightful experiences from door to door.
With 35% market share, DoorDash is the largest on-demand food platform in the United States, now partnering with 310,000 restaurants in more than 4,000 cities and all 50 states across the United States, Canada, and Australia.
The food platform took Melbourne by storm when it launched in early September and has been welcomed by locals with continued high delivery demand in the outer suburbs, with 2,000+ total restaurants and counting available to Melbourne customers. Following this unprecedented success, DoorDash has accelerated its Sydney launch date, eager to bring its large restaurant selection to Sydney residents living in both the inner city and outer suburbs.
At the time of launch, DoorDash will serve twice as many Sydney residents as Melbourne locals. Across both cities, DoorDash now reaches over 40 percent of Australians nationwide.
Delivering on its company promise to reach as many suburbs as possible, starting today DoorDash will be available in Sydney’s CBD and suburbs, including: North Sydney, St. Peters, Leichhardt, Manly, Bondi Beach, Maroubra, Parramatta, Punchbowl, Pymble, Castle Hill, Quakers Hill, Caringbah, Moorebank, Campbelltown, and Kingswood.
Discussing the company’s rapid growth, DoorDash’s Australian General Manager, Thomas Stephens, said: “When exploring expansion outside North America, Sydney distinguished itself as a city where we would be thrilled to add value given its incredible dining scene across a vast and diverse landscape. We’ve been delighted by the engagement from restaurants, and subsequently made the decision to accelerate our launch of DoorDash in Sydney to meet the demand, which we are hugely excited about.”
“We feel confident in undertaking DoorDash’s largest launch to date. We are combining learnings from Melbourne’s unprecedented growth, our expertise from North America, and firsthand knowledge of what it’s like to be a Sydneysider to bring the best version of DoorDash–and as many dining options as possible–to Sydney from day 1,” Stephens adds.
Launching with thousands of restaurants available for delivery and hundreds for pick up through the DoorDash app and website, DoorDash will provide access to national and local favourites including Fishbowl, Grill’d, Oporto, Ogalo, Hurricane's Grill and Burgers Anonymous.
Oporto CEO, Craig Tozer, says: “We are excited to partner with DoorDash and bring our famous Flame Grilled Chicken to market with them in NSW. DoorDash's goal of providing customers with the best possible delivery experience, from both a quality and selection perspective, has made them an excellent partner."
Along with a wide selection of Sydney’s most sought after eateries, DoorDash will also be extending its unique ‘pick-up’ function to Sydney residents, allowing users to order their meals in advance and skip queues.
To celebrate, DoorDash is giving away free Oporto Bondi Burgers with free delivery to customers across the greater Sydney area* from Wednesday through Sunday, paying homage to the city’s iconic Bondi beach.
On top of the free foodie launch offer, DoorDash will also offer its “30 or $30” promotion in Sydney as part of its commitment to offer a superior delivery experience; promising all orders made from the “30 or $30” carousel will be delivered within 30 minutes or customers will receive up to $30 off their next order*.
