As restrictions ease, the top North American On-Demand Food Platform is rolling out initiatives to assist businesses on the road to recovery.
DoorDash, the leading on-demand food platform for door-to-door delivery in the U.S., is arriving in Brisbane this week, its third metro city launch in Australia.
Launching in metro and inner-city suburbs to start, DoorDash has partnered with hundreds of restaurants across Brisbane, including local independent favourites such as Red Hook New York Street Food, Taro's Ramen, Burger Urge and Brooklyn Depo, plus well-known brands such as McDonald’s, Subway and Guzman y Gomez.
Bringing its expertise from North America and successful market entries in both Melbourne and Sydney late last year, DoorDash is committed to helping Brisbane restaurant owners drive demand to their eateries, while providing flexible and competitive earning opportunities for Dashers (drivers) and a quality food selection that Brisbanites across the city will love.
As restrictions ease across the state, DoorDash is rolling out initiatives to assist businesses on the road to recovery. These include a Weblinks Program designed to help drive revenue through a restaurant’s own website, with 0% commissions on orders placed through weblinks, for delivery or pick-up, until the end of 2020.
To also help drive sales for local favourites on the app, there will be free delivery for all local restaurant orders every Saturday throughout June, as part of the company’s Main Street Strong initiative to help restaurants navigate the next phase of recovery.
Discussing the company’s expansion to Brisbane, DoorDash Australia General Manager, Thomas Stephens, said: “We have been working closely with our local restaurant partners to understand how we can help them get back on their feet, and what we’ve heard is that having the tools to reach not just new customers but their customers is a recurring theme we want to address. That is why we’ve rolled out a series of new products and programs through our ‘Main Street Strong’ initiative to help restaurants build their brands online and access customers in new ways.
“We’re looking forward to bringing this restaurant-first approach to partnerships in Brisbane, and we aim to roll out further initiatives to support the restaurant community. These efforts will not just be during this recovery phase but forever moving forward as part of our mission to connect local economies.”
Delivering on its company promise to cater to underserviced suburbs, the DoorDash team is looking to expand its offering with further Queensland launches earmarked for later this year.
“We are eager to start our expansion up the east coast with Brisbane, providing a convenient service for local customers and supporting the restaurants who play a large role in the city’s food and dining scene,” Stephens added.
Popular South East Queensland Italian Restaurant Group ‘Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers’, with locations in Paddington and South Bank, has recently joined DoorDash: “Partnering with DoorDash is a win-win scenario as it offers competitive rates for both restaurant owners as well as customers. It also provides the unique advantage of delivering to suburbs further outside our traditional customer base – this allows us to feed gnocchi lovers across both the North and South Side of Brisbane with our full menu available to all,” said Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers co-founder and co-owner, Ben Cleary-Corradini.
To give customers using the app the opportunity to try a mixture of Brisbane’s best-kept secrets and most well-known eateries, DoorDash will be offering 10% off a selection of restaurants from June 16 to June 30. Plus, for every delivery made between launch and June 30, DoorDash will donate one meal to Foodbank Queensland, helping them provide food relief to vulnerable people across the state.
Customers will also benefit from the “30 or $30” launch promotion as part of DoorDash’s commitment to offering a superior delivery experience; promising all orders made from the “30 or $30” carousel will be delivered within 30 minutes or customers will receive up to $30 off their next order*.
The platform will feature its unique ‘pick-up’ function, allowing users to collect their meals on the go at no extra cost, plus ‘group ordering’ which makes it easy for large groups to order together.
