Personalised in-app gifting function is reconnecting Aussies all over the country, allowing them to give the gift of food to mark any occasion.
DoorDash is making it easier for people to connect with loved ones with the launch of its personalised in-app gifting function. Thoughtful people across the country will now be able to send edible gifts in a fully customisable and effortless way, for any celebration or simply just because.
DoorDash Gifting provides a unique, no-fuss way to send the ultimate surprise and delight to friends, family, or colleagues – whether it’s Happy Birthday hash browns, a cheer-up cheesecake, a you-smashed-it smoothie, or a just-because burger. Complete with virtual, animated personalised greeting cards for every occasion and recipient tracking capabilities for a smooth drop off, you can spread kindness no matter the reason.
To reward kind-hearted gifters this festive season and celebrate the launch, DoorDash is sweetening the deal by giving Aussies $10 credit on their next meal when they spend $20 or more on gifting, until 27 November.
This credit can be used to treat yourself to a flavoursome feed or to pay it forward with another edible gift for your nearest and dearest from the likes of Gelato Messina, San Churro, Betty’s Burgers and more.
Launched in Australia in 2019, DoorDash is operating in all states and territories, partnering with over 12,000 business stores and reaching over 70% of the Australian population.
Chase Gardner, Head of Enterprise Partnerships at DoorDash Australia, said: “After what has been a challenging year, this holiday season is going to look a little bit different for many Australians who might not be able to share this time with their family and friends in person. We hope our new Gifting experience will give DoorDash users a new way to connect with their loved ones both near and far, inspiring fun ways to send edible gifts while supporting their favourite local restaurants when they need us most.”
Following a trial earlier this year, DoorDash discovered Aussies were quick to gift the sweet stuff with churros and cookies being among the most popular gifts. The pilot revealed the most common reasons for gifting were ‘just because’ or as a ‘get well soon’ pick-me-up, followed by birthday wishes in a close third. Especially in 2020, any reason is the best reason to show someone you’re thinking of them.
From the trial, DoorDash found that Melburnians were the most generous, with Sydney coming second and Brisbanites third. Lunchtime feeds and cheeky mid-afternoon treats were also the most popular gifting times.
“Our users can have so much fun with this new feature, and what excites me most is that now every single restaurant and retailer listed on the DoorDash app can be gifted, transforming their menus into virtual gift lists. DoorDash Gifting offers convenience and endless options to those who have an occasion in mind, need a last-minute gift, or even for those tricky office Kris Kringles”, added Chase.
Along with a wide selection of national and local eateries, gifts can also be sent from retailers listed on the DoorDash app, including The Reject Shop, Gift n Send, PETstock and multiple convenience stores.
