Family Business Australia’s 20th national conference will focus on the Competitive Advantage of Family, and how family owned Australian businesses can harness this advantage.
For the first time, Family Business Australia (FBA) is heading to Alice Springs for its 20th national conference to be held from 9-12 September. The event aims to inspire and challenge executive directors, CEOs, business owners and advisors of family-owned businesses.
A powerful line up of iconic family businesses will headline the FBA national conference, including family business owners from Linfox, Just Jeans, Hungry Jack's, Akubra, Paspaley Pearls and Carman's.
Greg Griffith, CEO of FBA, says “this is an incredible opportunity to see all of these family businesses on one bill. Not only do you get to hear first-hand their war stories but you also get to share your own family business stories with each other”.
Mr Griffith said attendees will also have the opportunity to rub shoulders with representatives from other well-known family businesses including Scenic World, Haigh’s Chocolates and Coopers Brewery.
Family businesses are an important part of the Australian economy, accounting for approximately 70 per cent of all businesses in Australia. The estimated half a million family businesses employ approximately 50 per cent of the Australian workforce and contribute approximately $4.3 trillion into the economy every year. The average Australian family business has a turnover of $12 million, and employs 37 people.
The FBA conference format provides a unique behind-the-scenes insight into the successes and failures of well-known businesses over multiple generations. The main theme will be the Competitive Advantage of Family, and how you can harness this advantage as a family owned Australian business. The program also includes breakout sessions and workshops focused on professional development specific to family business challenges.
“This is an opportunity to showcase how valuable family businesses are to the Australian economy and to hone in on the competitive advantage of being part of the family business community”, Mr Griffiths said.
Family Business Australia is the peak body for family businesses in Australia, providing resources and channels to promote success, sustainability and longevity for family-owned businesses.
