Top performing sales agent Seah Williams shares her advice for business owners when selling their business.
Seah Williams is an award-winning agent for Ray White Yorke Peninsula Kadina, with over 15 years’ experience in the industry, managing and training on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula.
Seah’s business philosophy is aimed squarely at customer service, advocating a high level of communication and honesty between client and agent and keeping the vendor involved throughout the sales process.
Seah spoke to WILLIAMS MEDIA about how she got her start in the industry, what she would change and what she loves about living on the Yorke Peninsula.
How did you get into the industry?
When Ray White was opening in Port Lincoln in 2002, I was approached by a friend who thought I would be great for the job. Since then, I’ve been the top sales performer for SA/ NT, and am proud to have been part of The Ray White Family for 16 years.
What advice do you have for people who are just starting out in similar careers?
Head down, bum up. Don't give up, it is hard work and you just need to get your name out there and build up referrals.
How has the industry changed in the time you have been involved with it?
I started during the boom, so I have definitely seen the market change immensely over the last 6 years.
This Copper Coast homewares business, The Miners Couch, is for sale by Seah Williams of Ray White Yorke Peninsula, as seen on The Business Page.
What changes would you like to see over the next two to five years in the industry?
The banks are now the biggest challenge facing the industry. I’d like to see stamp duty abolished, which would help out first home buyers a lot more.
What do you think is the most important element for business owners to consider when selling their business?
Price is the most important element. There is no goodwill anymore. If you have worked the business hard, the figures will let you know what it is worth.
What do you love about the Yorke Peninsula?
I’ve been living on the Yorke Peninsula for 9 years now; I was on the Eyre Peninsula for the beginning of my career. I love the amazing beaches, proximity to Adelaide, great fishing, and family fun.
What’s your outlook for the next year?
Positive!
